Visual syntax. In my life, I’ve experienced an ever-increasing scope of imagery present in many aspects of my life - newspapers, magazines, television, movies - and, more recently, a rapid pace of visuals appearing through the internet on websites and various social media. Visual imagery holds an innate draw for me. Photography has been a long-time magnet. I am an active observer of the world I encounter.

As such, I am interested in a range of subject matter:  landscapes in nature, urban landscapes, street photography, travel, people and sales images.

I am blessed to live in a beautiful part of the world where inspiration is ever-present. I revel in encountering and capturing serendipitous moments in nature or day-to-day life, revealing the special magic of the scene.

While I started my photographic journey in the film era, I now totally embrace the digital age with its great flexibility in capture, post-processing and presentation.

As with many creative people, I am on a quest to explore, discover, perfect and convey my artistic voice through photography.

Work

Much of my work life has revolved around media sales/advertising. For me, this has been a means of personal expression.

•   Working with people, creating win-win situations

•   Working with visuals

•   Working with words

Distilling client messages to succinct visual and written messages is key.  Less truly is more. This has also helped me refine my visual syntax.

Community

Community is important to me. This is primarily my local community.

An active, proud, responsible, respectful, pro-active and fulfilling community culture flows outward to affect province, country and planet.

I have endeavored to be active and proactive in my community life. Through my community activities I have been selected as:

•   1989 Whistler Citizen of the Year

•   2003 Squamish Citizen of the Year

•   Recipient of the 2005 West Coast Railway Heritage Park’s Media Partner of the Year

Local trails are another passion of mine. I was the co-founder of the Squamish Trails Society and served for over 20 years as its President.
